Giants beat rent
San Francisco, California -
Another record was broken by the San Francisco Giants and it did not
involve Barry Bonds. Fan Adam DuVander spent more money to attend games
during the month of June than he did on rent.
"I can't explain it," the record-holder said. "I do like baseball more than my apartment."
Though the spending percentage statistic is brand new to Major League Baseball, DuVander finds himself in prestigious company. Donald Willis, Jr. stayed in shelters and youth hostels to watch every Yankee home game. Still, DuVander's spending percentage of 1.085 bested Willis' 0.942.
"I suppose I'm lucky it costs so much for a cot on a gym floor in New York City," DuVander said. "Otherwise, I might have to share this honor."
DuVander expressed that he was most pleased with the turn-around the Giants have made. While the team-leader in spending percentage is in attendance, the Giants are 11-7 (.611).
"I just thank God I've been given this opportunity. I hope I can keep it going and continue to do what's best for the ball club," DuVander said.
